I just have to write about my disgust about the current top ten films at the movie theatres. High School Musical and Saw 5 are projected to take the #1 and #2 spots at the box office this week? What is up with that. Sequels typically are not that good, let alone a 3rd or 5th rendition of the film. Who in their right mind would want to go see Saw 5 anyway? Basically someone gets put into some stupid game where some psycho decides its a good idea to play a stupid game with their life is the entire plot of the film. It’s been done 4 times before and I can honestly say I haven’t been able to watch a single Saw film start to finish. How could people be wasting their money on something like this? High School Musical 3? How on earth did that make it to the top of the box office? The previews alone, along with the ties to Disney were enough to make sure I stayed away from it. Why would any parent want to subject their own children to such a film? And Beverly Hills Chihuahua still being in the top #4? How does something like this happen? It’s a CGI talking dog. Wow, how creative. I saw Toy Story and I say Toy Story 2. I even watched MIB 1 and 2, and they had a talking dog. Do we really have that many parents spending their money on pointless films?
If I offended anyone with this post, GOOD, because all three films mentioned above are on our boycott list. Pride and Glory should be #1 at the box office plain and simple. Body of Lies, Quarantine, and Max Payne are all great films as well. I haven’t seen W yet but have much more respect for that than High School Musical 3. Let’s hope the box office projections have nothing to do with what really happened this weekend at the theatres.
Stay tuned.
