These are the top 10 films that in my mind I consider to have the biggest cult following. A “cult classic” can be defined as a film that may not have had box office or critical success at the time of its release, but over time has gained popularity and a cult following. Again, since this is a large list that is hard to break into 10 films, I figured I’d recognize 20 of them.
20. Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)
19. Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959)
18. Tron (1982)
17. Brazil (1985)
16. Barbarella (1968)
15. The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977)
14. Heathers (1989)
13. Walking Tall (1973)
12. Dazed and Confused (1993)
11. The Big Lebowski (1998)
10. Eraserhead (1978)
9. The Warriors (1979)
8. Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1966)
7. Clerks (1994)
6. Vanishing Point (1971)
5. Harold and Maude (1971)
4. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1973)
2. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (1966)
1. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1976)
Honestly, I am speechless. The Shawshank Redemption is extraordinary. I’am not too old film fan, actually, this film appeared whenI was born, and hence I’am more accustomed films with astounding special effects, edge-of-your-seat action, et cetera. This movie has none of that, and yet, it attracts me very much . The way Frank Darabont uses the story of Red to drive on the tale, the excellent the music applied (note the harmonica used merely earlier Red finding the letter close to the end). The entire film, from start to end, from actions to music, is a lighthouse of hope, judgment, and redemption. The cast is ideal, Morgan Freeman(Red) actually brings about a fresh feel to the tale, and that’s exactly what the film is, what a film should be. Highly recommended for every and everyone.
