Quentin Tarantino is by far one of my favorite somewhat new filmmakers. Even though he’s been in the game for close to 20 years, some filmmakers spend a lifetime and don’t even come close to accomplishing what Tarantino has in such a short amount of time. With “Inglourious Basterds” coming out soon, I think it’s awesome Tarantino is changing direction by adding a spin to different genres. Since he’s doing his take on a war film, Tarantino stated that he wants to make a western, possibly as his next film. Tarantino told Empire Magazine:
“Well I still want to do a Western, I haven’t done a Western yet. I still keep flirting about with it, but I haven’t done it yet.”
Tarantino would make the most badass retro style western like nothing we have ever seen. I can picture him doing homage to classics like “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” and “High Plains Drifter”. I’m not too much of a fan of the spagetti western as much as I am of lets say John Wayne’s westerns, so I hope he gives homage to those as well. Tarantino didn’t say that this would be his next film. He still plans on remaking the 1970’s grindhouse classic “Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!”, which I personally think he should stay away from the remake territory. Although, that would be his spin on a remake since everything is being remade these days. All I know is whatever he makes I am there.
