Iron Man 2 Villains

With the success of his latest film “The Wrestler”, actor Mickey Rourke is in talks to co-star as a villain in the next entry to the successful film “Iron Man”. Rourke is rumored to play either Crimson Dynamo, the Russian counter-part to Iron Man, or Whiplash, a Russian thug who wields deadly coils. Both characters (since they’re so similar) are perfect for Mickey Rourke. Rourke generally plays musclehead bad guys, so that would make him considered perfect for this highly anticipated film. I personally would like to see a villain that is somewhat different than Iron Man. The last films villain Iron Monger was pretty similar to Iron Man, and Terrence Howards character Rhodey made a reference to jumping into a different Iron Man suit. The audience needs a villian thats going to counteract these characters as well as challenge them. The Whiplash character is a much better choice overall.

Alongside Rourke actor Sam Rockwell (Charlies Angels, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind) is in talks to co-star as multi-billionaire industrialist Justin Hammer. Hammer happens to be Tony Starks archrival in the business world. Rockwell is perfect for the role as well. He seems like he could play an egotistical wealthy prick without any rehearsal. This sequel really seems to be getting on the ball here. Could this be an attempt to overthrow the reign that “The Dark Knight” has left among us as far as comic book sequels. Another item that is similar among both films is that a major co-star from the original is being replaced by someone completely entirely. Katie Holmes after “Batman Begins” was replaced by Maggie Gyllenhall for “The Dark Knight”, Don Cheadle is replacing Terrence Howard as James “Rhodey” Rhodes. Now with Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell as villains, lets just hope one of them doesn’t die.
