Batman 3 News

Since “The Dark Knight”, rumors have been coming from god knows where about what’s gonna happen in the third entry to the film franchise. Whenever a rumor comes out, producers deny any knowledge and claim that no one has even committed for a third round. The rumors have mostly consisted of what villains are going to be in the next one and who will be playing them. The biggest and best rumor has been an appearance of the riddler which was said to be played by Johnny Depp. Hopefully this becomes more than just a rumor. Also it was rumored that we’d see appearances from catwoman and the penguin, to be played by Angelina Jolie and Phillip Seymore Hoffman. Both perfect choices. Michael Caine claimed that the riddler and penguin rumor are not rumors at all and are actually happening. Producers though have been stating that director Christopher Nolan isn’t sure if he wants to make another one. Nolan himself said he would if they can actually come up with a sequel that is actually worth making. The director has expressed his feelings of how many second sequels (let alone sequels) are that good? Of course the big question thats on everyones mind: What is going to be of the Joker and Two-Face? Aaron Eckhart has said in the past that Nolan says that Two-Face is “dead”. At the golden globes, Eckhart was asked the same question again. His response was nothing but his laughter that you could read right through. The same night, producer Chuck Roven was asked about what status a third entry is at. Roven replied saying that Nolan and screenwriter David S. Goyer are “talking and thinking” about a 3rd film. Roven also stated that when asked if he would have killed off the Joker at the end of “The Dark Knight” if he had known before of the tragic demise of actor Heath Ledger. Roven stated that “The Dark Knight” was its own thing and the character and actor need to be separated. Is Roven pretty much is stating that the Joker is going to be recast? I say move on with the character and let it rest with Heath. Nolan and Goyer can figure some brilliant way to squash his character and lead on with another. It would be quite awesome to have batman taking on multiple lead adversaries like on the original show with Adam West. Just as long as Robin is left out, I will be happy.
